Richard Brewster

Richard Brewster, (can’t remember House – shows what advancing years do). Never suspended despite numerous boozy afternoons with Gallasch, Carew-Reid et al when we were supposed be following other pursuits.

Played cricket 2nd XI, rugby, athletics (mile, cross country) and only 5th former with car because of age. (These were repeat years for me having just migrated from Melbourne). Studied Economics at ANU and then became a journalist with the Canberra Courier before joining the Australian Information Service at end of 1972. Retrenched in 1988 while Tasmanian State Director and returned to Melbourne with wife Lucy and children David, John and Angela to take up senior consultant position with International Public Relations Australia’s largest PR firm at the time.

In 1990, established own PR business and now spend much of my time as a freelance writer for the Age with several regular weekly and monthly columns and other feature writing commitments. These days – after years of playing pennant squash, tennis, etc – enjoy walking to keep fit and Melbourne’s restaurant and cultural life whenever possible.
