CGS 1963-68. Boarded years 2-4. Memories of freezing under open windows winter nights, and happy days living in the Annex with mates. Did Science at ANU, a Masters, then Computing under a Public Service cadetship. Worked in Health for a while, and ended up running IT in science-related Federal agencies – Environment, Geoscience.

In our CGS 2008 reunion photo at Ruby Restaurant, I am top left in the group, and caused a fire seconds after the shot, when the tissue I placed over the lamp behind ignited!

Soon after the Ruby incident, I fled the country to Saudi Arabia, working with Austrade for over a year until the first Gulf war. Took the family – Tricia, Jason, Andy, and twins James & Tim (all ex Radford College). Much Europe etc travel then and since. Took a package 1996 when the PS got cut, and joined electricity company Great Southern Energy in Queanbeyan as IT Manager. I stayed there through subsequent amalgamations, in Telecommunications and Strategy roles until retiring 2014. Tricia has also retired since, and after much travel, house renovations and 10 grandkids our focus has changed somewhat.

Late in 2016, I returned to an earlier passion, to pursue a PhD in genetics at the University of Canberra, with encouragement from Greg Peters and Bruce Tier (both in genetics). As we’re settled in Canberra, I’ve been able to attend many of the CGS68 BBQs and events (often with Tricia), as the odd photo shows. It’s great to keep in contact and see where life takes us all.
